Louis MacNeice

About the poet:

Born: September 12, 1907 in Belfast, Ireland
Died: September 3, 1963 in London, England
 

Louis MacNeice was studied at Oxford where he made a life long friend of W. H. Auden who inspired and encouraged MacNeice to take his poetry writing seriously. MacNeice lectured at Birmingham University and later at the University of London. In 1941 he took a job with the BBC writing and producing radio programs.

In 1958 MacNeice has awarded the CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
